Dear Friends,

Happy day to all the fathers in the world – take some time to enjoy the Sunday!

To make your day a touch more mysterious (and mostly due to far smaller quantities than we typically have for Mystery Wine), MW #63 is tucked away not only on a Sunday but on Father’s Day when an even smaller number of you will be paying attention – therefore, please be patient with Nicki if you do not receive an allocation, I gave this my best hide-and-seek effort to reduce demand.

Now then...

You can’t win if you don’t throw your hat in the ring and (considering I know what the wine is), your participation is strongly advised – the wine is terrific and this tariff is more than worth the gamble...

What I can tell you:

• This wine is from Italy.

• It is the current release.

• It is from the hotly contested/highly anticipated 2010 vintage (it is not from a cast-off year).

• This is not a Kinko's label, it is the exact same wine, label, cork as elsewhere.

• It’s already received US critical acclaim from a major voice and the two bottles I’ve tasted are even better than the review (which is great – the score is at least 90 pts but less than 99pts but probably somewhere in the middle).

• For $14+, this gets my nod as the best buy of the year for Italian red wine from the 2010 vintage (for the widest audience).

• Nearly everyone you pour this for will find something to like – it is classic but also extracted and harmonious, brimming with pencil shavings, rich flavor, depth and a style that has obvious breed - the finish is very pure and long.

• A red Bordeaux varietal is involved as well as another red grape of a more Italian leaning

• The lowest price in the world is in the UK at $24+, in the Western Hemisphere at $28-30+.

• It is not Le Volte.

• Siccome la casa brucia, riscaldiamoci.

• Ne ammazza più la gola che la spada.

• Non tutto il male vien per nuocere.

On your mark, get set...GO!
